The app
- Your fonts never leave your computer. Affont compiles, installs and exports fonts on your computer. Your drawings, projects and fonts are not sent to any server. Affont’s scripts for Affinity only pass your letters to the app, on your own computer.
- Purchase. Creem processes the payment as merchant of record and passes us your name, email, country and the order details. We don’t see your card details.
- License. When you activate Affont, and then once a day, the app sends our server your license key, an installation identifier and a name for the device: your computer’s name, its operating system (Windows or macOS) and a short code derived from the machine identifier, to tell your devices apart. Our server forwards this to Creem, which keeps the list of devices on your license; we don’t store it separately. If you release a device from another computer, we ask for the email you used to buy Affont so we can find your license.
- Updates. When it opens, the app checks whether there’s a new version. That check doesn’t include any of your data.
- Technical data. Our server sees the IP address of each request and uses it only to prevent abuse; our hosting provider may keep it briefly in its logs.
Purchase reminders
If you start buying Affont, enter your email in Creem’s checkout form and don’t complete the purchase, Creem may send you one or more emails on our behalf to remind you about it.
- What data it uses. The email you entered in the checkout form and the product you were buying. It doesn’t use your card details.
- When. Creem marks the purchase as abandoned after 24 hours and from then on sends the reminders, with a link to pick up where you left off.
- Only that purchase. The reminders are only about the purchase you left pending. They don’t sign you up for news or any other emails.
- Where it’s kept. Creem keeps this data under its privacy policy; we don’t store it separately.
- If you don’t want them. Email us at support@affont.org. You can object to this use of your data at any time.
Your account and the community
- Your account. To see your licenses and take part in the community, you sign in with Google, Apple or your email (we send you a code). We receive your name, your email and, if the account has one, your profile picture.
- What’s public. To post you choose a username: your real name and your email are never shown. Your username, your picture (the Google one, unless you upload another), your threads, replies and images, and your votes are public in the community. Bug reports are only seen by you and our team.
- Purchase mark. If you bought Affont with your account’s email, an Affont mark appears next to your username.
- Translations. If someone asks to read a post in another language, its text is sent to an AI translation service (DeepSeek), and we keep the translation to show it again.
What we collect on the site
- Visits and clicks. We count which pages are visited, which site people come from (or whether they came directly), the country (our server works it out from the IP address, which we don’t store with this data), the type of device and which links and buttons are clicked. It goes with a random identifier stored in your browser and doesn’t include your name or email. If you’re signed in, we link it to your account.
- Heatmaps. On public pages we use Microsoft Clarity to see where people click and how far they read each page. Clarity records pointer movements, clicks and scrolling, and can rebuild a visit from them as a recording. We don’t use it on your account pages, and your account menu is hidden in recordings. It works without cookies and we tell it not to use this data for advertising. Microsoft handles it under its privacy statement.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider logs basic request data (such as IP address and browser type) for security and to keep the site running.
- Fonts. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when serving them.
- Emails. If you write to us, we only use your address to reply.
Storage in your browser
The site doesn’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you sign in, it keeps a session cookie needed to keep you signed in. In your browser’s local storage it keeps the random identifier we use to count visits and clicks, and a note that you signed in, which you can delete at any time from your browser. Creem’s checkout uses its own cookies, which it needs to complete the order.
How we use it
- Give you access to your account, your licenses and the community.
- Check your Affont licenses and deliver its updates.
- If you left a purchase unfinished, remind you about it by email.
- Show what you post in the community and, when someone asks, translate it.
- Know which pages are visited, where people come from and what gets used most, to improve the site.
- Keep the site and the community secure and working.
- Answer your messages.
We don’t sell your data, show ads or track you across other sites.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers: Google and Apple, to sign in; an email service (Resend), to send sign-in codes; Creem, which as merchant of record runs the sale of Affont, its licenses and purchase reminders (see its privacy policy); DeepSeek, directly or through Runware, to translate community posts when someone asks; the services that host the site and store the data described above; and Google Fonts for typefaces. They only receive what they need to provide that service and may process data in countries other than yours.
How long we keep it
Your account data is kept for as long as you have the account, and until you ask us to delete it. If you ask, we delete your community profile, votes and images; what you wrote stays, shown as from a “deleted account”. Visits and clicks are kept for as long as they help us understand how the site is used. Your Affont purchase and license data is kept for as long as each license exists and for as long as the law requires (for example, invoices).
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU GDPR or similar laws), you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, and object to certain uses. Email us at support@affont.org.
Children
Affont is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, say so on the site.
