How to keep the edited version in Affont when re-send from Affinity?

Hi Emmanuel,

I was editing the glyphs in Affont then I wanted to add new glyphs from Affinity. When I press "Send" script the second time to get new glyphs into Affont, all the edits I've already made of the first batch glyphs in Affont disappear and they're reset to the Affinity unedited version.

Is there any way to keep the edits I've made in Affont when using "Send" script to import new glyphs from Affinity?

In case that's not possible, I wish I could Copy + Paste the vector shapes from Affinity to Affont Glyph.

The Copy + Paste currently works only within the Affont app.

I'd really appreciate your helps!

Thank you so much!

Hi Han, thanks for the clear report!

You're right: until now, every Send replaced all the letters in Affont with the ones coming from Affinity, so anything you had touched up in Affont was lost.

The next Affont update fixes this:

- Letters you haven't changed in Affinity since the last Send stay exactly as they are in Affont, with your edits and spacing.

- Letters you changed only in Affinity are updated, as before.

- If a letter changed in both places, Affont asks whether to use the Affinity version or keep the Affont one (and Undo brings it back if you pick the wrong one).

So you can keep drawing new letters in Affinity and sending them without losing your edits. Reload .af works the same way.

About copy & paste: you can already paste from Affinity, it just needs one Affinity setting. Turn on Settings > General > "Copy items as SVG", copy a shape in Affinity, pick the letter in Affont and press Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+V (Paste vectors). Inside the Glyph editor, the Paste menu has Paste vectors (replaces the letter) and Paste inside (adds to it). Only filled shapes are pasted, so expand strokes first (Layer > Expand Stroke).

In the next update, the regular Ctrl/Cmd+V in the Glyph editor also pastes what you copied in Affinity.

Until the update is out, you can add new letters without touching the ones you edited by pasting each new letter with Paste vectors instead of using Send.
